As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and luck. The aim is to move your pieces carefully around the board to your inside board while at the same time your opponent shifts their chips toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With competing player pieces shifting in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific techniques at specific instances. Here are the last 2 Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the aim of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to shift their chips, the Priming Game strategy is to completely stop any activity of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if she at all tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your board. As soon as you’ve successfully assembled the prime to prevent the movement of the opponent, your opponent does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you move your chips and roll the dice yet again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The goals of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game plan are very similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions in hope to better your odds of succeeding, however the Back Game plan utilizes seperate tactics to do that. The Back Game tactic is commonly employed when you are far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This plan is more challenging than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are relocated is partly the result of the dice roll.
