The goal of a Backgammon match is to shift your chips around the Backgammon board and pull those pieces off the board quicker than your competitor who works just as hard to do the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a game of Backgammon needsrequires both tactics and fortune. How far you will be able to shift your checkers is left to the numbers from tossing the dice, and just how you shift your pieces are determined by your overall gambling strategies. Enthusiasts use a few plans in the differing stages of a game dependent on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Strategy

The goal of the Running Game plan is to entice all your chips into your inside board and pull them off as quickly as you can. This technique focuses on the speed of advancing your checkers with little or no efforts to hit or barricade your opponent’s checkers. The ideal time to use this technique is when you believe you might be able to shift your own chips faster than the opposition does: when 1) you have a fewer chips on the board; 2) all your pieces have moved beyond your opponent’s chips; or 3) the opponent doesn’t use the hitting or blocking tactic.

The Blocking Game Plan

The primary aim of the blocking technique, by its name, is to block the competitor’s checkers, temporarily, not worrying about shifting your checkers rapidly. Once you have established the blockage for your competitor’s movement with a few checkers, you can move your other chips swiftly off the board. The player should also have a good plan when to back off and shift the checkers that you employed for the blockade. The game becomes intriguing when the opposition utilizes the same blocking tactic.
