As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and luck. The aim is to shift your chips safely around the game board to your inside board and at the same time your opposition shifts their pieces toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips moving in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific techniques at particular instances. Here are the 2 final Backgammon tactics to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to shift her pieces, the Priming Game strategy is to completely block any activity of the opponent by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if he/she at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anywhere between point two and point eleven in your half of the board. Once you’ve successfully constructed the prime to block the activity of the competitor, your opponent doesn’t even get a chance to roll the dice, and you shift your pieces and toss the dice again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The objectives of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game technique are similar – to harm your opponent’s positions in hope to boost your chances of winning, but the Back Game strategy utilizes alternate tactics to do that. The Back Game strategy is generally utilized when you’re far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this plan, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This technique is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are moved is partly the result of the dice roll.
